How 123Alterations works
A 123Alterations tailor comes to your home, pins and measures, and prices every item from our posted prices before taking anything. Your clothes are altered in our workroom and returned in about 7–10 days. Your card is saved at booking and charged once, after delivery, for no more than the quote you signed.
Four steps
- Pick a windowEnter your ZIP, see the posted prices for your area, and pick a 2-hour window. Your card is saved, not charged.
- Pin and measure at homeA tailor fits each item at your home and prices it on the spot from our posted prices. You approve the quote before anything leaves.
- AlterationEach item is tagged with its own QR code and altered in our workroom. You can track status online, and every item gets a quality check with a photo.
- Delivery and paymentWe bring the items back in a window you choose. Your card is charged the approved amount when the work is done.
The quote you sign
At the fitting your tailor builds the quote on their phone, line by line, from the same prices posted on our pricing page. You can drop any item, add rush (+40% on the rushed items), and see the trip fee ($20 Nassau · $25 Suffolk, waived from $75 on Long Island; $25, waived from $90 in NYC). Then you sign with your finger. That signature sets the most we can charge.
Payment and consent
- $0 at booking. You save a card with our payment processor. We record the exact consent wording you agreed to.
- One charge, after delivery. Never more than the approved quote, unless you approve a change in writing.
- Card problems. If a card check fails before delivery, we send you a secure link to update it, and hold delivery until it's fixed.
- Tips are optional and go 100% to your tailor.
Tracking every item
Each garment gets its own QR tag at your door. It's scanned with a photo at every handoff (your door, the workroom, quality check, delivery), and every scan shows in your order tracker.

Questions
When is my card charged?
Your card is saved when you book and charged only after your order is complete, for the amount you approved. We never charge more than the approved quote without asking you first.
How is the price set?
Your tailor prices each item in your home from the same prices posted on this site. You see every line, untick anything you do not want, and sign. That signed total is the most you will pay.
What if the tailor finds more work after pickup?
We send you a photo and a price. We only do the extra work if you approve it. If you decline or do not answer within 48 hours, we do only the approved work.
Why not put a hold on my card?
Card holds expire after about a week and alterations can take longer. So we skip the hold, save the card, and charge it once, after delivery.
Do I need to be home for the return?
Someone needs to receive the items. You choose the return window, and you can change it later.
Is there sales tax on alterations in New York?
No. New York excludes tailoring and alterations to clothing from sales tax, including reasonable, separately stated alterations to new clothing.
